We help artists build sustainable creative business

Our Story

Too many great artists are forced to step away from their careers not because of talent, but because the business side becomes unmanageable.

Aye Aye Music Financial was created to make the business side clearer, fairer, and less stressful for musians and artists.

We’re here for the artists, bands, and teams who are doing this for real — touring, releasing, growing — and who need a partner to help them build something sustainable behind the scenes.

We believe creative freedom comes from financial confidence.

If you’re tired of guessing where the money is going, we help you see the full picture.

What We Do

Aye Aye Music Financial (AAMF) provides artist-focused business management designed for the realities of Canada’s music industry.

We bridge the gap between artist and finance — combining lived music experience with professional financial expertise. We understand the touring schedules, the late payments, the feast-or-famine income, and the emotional weight that comes with all of it.

Our goal is simple: turn financial chaos into clarity.

We help artists and managers:

  • Understand what’s actually driving their numbers
  • Anticipate cash flow instead of reacting to emergencies
  • Make informed decisions about tours, releases, and investments
  • Build systems that support a long-term career, not just the next cycle

How We Work

Fair. Transparent. Built to scale.

We believe in clear systems, honest communication, and pricing that actually makes sense.

That’s why we use a tier-based model instead of vague retainers or “mystery” management fees. Every artist or team gets the right level of support for their stage of growth — nothing more, nothing less.

  • No hidden fees
  • No inflated rates
  • No penalties for growing

We base our pricing on time, complexity, and responsibility — not on fame, streams, or the size of your last advance.

As your career evolves, your systems and support evolve with you: from getting organized, to gaining control, to operating like a fully functioning company.

Why Artists and Managers Partner with AAMF

We speak your language.

We’re musicians, managers, and financial professionals. We’ve been on the road, in the green room, and in the inbox at 11:59 PM before a grant deadline. We understand how messy and non-linear this work can be.

We’re fair.

Every client is quoted using the same framework — based on time, complexity, and responsibility. No surprises. No inflated retainers. No special treatment for the loudest voice in the room.

We’re proactive partners.

We don’t wait for year-end to sort things out. We work with you throughout the year to stay ahead of tax and compliance issues, monitor cash flow, and make confident, timely decisions instead of panicked ones.

Being in a band, you end up wearing a lot of hats — just like any small business. Some people sling merch, some do the long-haul driving, some run the socials. I was always the “lucky one” managing the band’s money.

At first, it was simple: make sure we actually got paid by the promoter, get the cash into the bank, and pay out whoever needed to be paid. But as the band grew, the money got more complicated — tours, guarantees, back-end, merch, grants, studio costs. Suddenly it wasn’t just “who gets gas money,” it was “are we actually making this sustainable?”

I realized two things pretty fast: most artists don’t have someone they trust to manage that side of things, and when the money feels out of control, the art starts to feel out of control too.

Aye Aye Music and Aye Aye Music Financial grew directly out of that experience — sitting in the van with a laptop, trying to make sense of numbers so the band could keep going. Now, instead of just doing it for my own projects, I help artists, managers, and teams build systems that are fair, transparent, and built to scale.

For me, business management isn’t about turning artists into corporations. It’s about giving you clarity — so you know what’s coming in, what’s going out, what’s working, and what isn’t. When you have that, you can make confident decisions about your career instead of guessing and hoping.

I’ve lived the stress, confusion, and “are we okay?” conversations at 2 AM after a show. AAMF exists so fewer artists have to hit that wall — and more of them can build a career that lasts.

Growing up in the 90s on a steady diet of hip-hop and hardcore gave me two lifelong passions: music and social justice. I’ve always loved how music can challenge systems and still bring people together.

Most of my own music experience has been behind the scenes, supporting bands on tour as a Road Manager — handling logistics, schedules, budgets, and all the small fires that come with life on the road. That’s where I learned to think analytically: reading patterns in cash flow, costs, and guarantees, and asking, “Does this actually work, or are we just hoping it does?”

Before AAMF, I spent a decade working in organizational training and development and leadership & executive coaching. My work has always been about helping people and organizations build intentional structures — the kind that support the humans inside them and deliver real results.

At Aye Aye Music Financial, I bring those worlds together. I’m passionate about helping artists and creative teams build businesses that are sustainable, clear, and fair — where the numbers tell a story people can actually understand, and where decisions are grounded in both data and values.

“Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” – James Baldwin.

For me, business management is about facing the money and the structure honestly, so artists have the clarity and support they need to keep doing the work they’re here to do.

I grew up in Peru watching both of my parents build a business out of nothing. That experience made me deeply curious about the power of a single good idea — and how much work, creativity, and belief it takes to turn that idea into something real.

As an artist myself, I’ve had to learn to see myself as a business. That shift changed everything. It made me realize that understanding the numbers, the deals, and the systems isn’t about “selling out” — it’s about protecting your work and your future.

I’m passionate about business management because I want other artists to feel that same sense of power and ownership. For a long time, personal managers and teams made decisions that shaped an artist’s career without the artist fully understanding the business side. That’s changing — and I’m a firm believer that, no matter how big or small the team is, the artist should feel like they’re in the driver’s seat.

At Aye Aye Music Financial, I get to combine my background in entrepreneurship, my lived experience as an artist, and my love of structure. Being a business manager allows me to discover new talent and share clear, practical tools that show artists where their money is going, what it’s doing for them, and what’s possible next.

When artists have that clarity, they can make strategic, confident decisions instead of guessing.

“The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty.” – Winston Churchill.

I’ve spent over eight years working in accounting and bookkeeping — in roles from accounts payable and receivable to property accounting. I love numbers, but what really matters to me is what those numbers make possible in people’s lives.

At the same time, music has always been a huge part of who I am. I’m a guitarist and producer, and I’ve spent years performing and writing with local artists. As a freelance musician, I know firsthand how hard it is to build a living in a creative industry — the inconsistent income, the up-front costs, and the constant “Can I actually afford to do this?” question in the background.

Working in both worlds, I started to notice a pattern: most artists aren’t struggling because they’re irresponsible — they’re struggling because no one ever helped them build a system.

I’ve seen how overwhelming it can be to open up a spreadsheet or accounting app after a long day of rehearsals, recording, or gigs. That feeling of “I’ll deal with this later” is so common — and it’s exactly what leads to stress, missed opportunities, and that fog around whether things are actually working or not.

That’s why I’m passionate about business management at Aye Aye Music Financial. Here, I get to combine my accounting background with my experience as a working musician. My goal is to help artists and teams build clean, simple financial systems that actually make sense to them — so they can stay on top of their money without losing energy for their craft.

If I can take some of that weight off an artist’s shoulders so they feel clear, informed, and in control, then they have more room to create. And that’s exactly what AAMF is about: giving creative people the confidence and structure they need to keep going.

I’ve spent well over a decade as a touring and recording freelance bass player, working with artists like Nick Johnston, Protest The Hero, Cory Marks, and Madeline Merlo. Being on the road and in the studio that long gives you a front-row seat to how unpredictable, intense, and beautiful this work can be — and how messy the money side often is.

While I was working toward my Bachelor of Music at Humber College in 2012, I co-founded StereoFlavour Inc., an entertainment company specializing in live bands for weddings and corporate events. Over the years, I’ve worn a lot of hats there — musical director, bandleader, and finance manager — and I’ve seen firsthand how much solid financial systems contribute to long-term success.

Finances as a musician have always been a grey area for a lot of people in this field. I’ve been through that myself: different income streams, irregular pay, tax questions, and the general “I hope this all works out” feeling that can hang over everything.

Working through those situations made me realize something important: if you don’t make bookkeeping and financial organization a priority, it becomes a constant source of stress. When you do make it a priority, everything else gets easier — touring, planning, saying yes or no to opportunities.

That’s why I’m passionate about business management at Aye Aye Music Financial. I get to take what I’ve learned as a working musician, a co-founder, and a finance manager and use it to help other artists and bands build systems that actually work for them.

My goal is to help people feel organized, informed, and supported so they can keep pursuing their craft without the everyday stress of finance admin hanging over them.

Gain clarity on the business side. Space on the creative side.
